About The Mama Mixtape
The Mama Mixtape is a weekly singing session for Mums of small babies in Cardiff, South Wales (UK).

Each week, we learn a different song together: pop, musical theatre, rock… as long as it’s uplifting and well known. We learn a bit of harmony for the choruses to make it sound all lovely, and we sing the verses as one. With the lyrics up on a big screen you can follow along easily whilst feeding, changing and soothing your baby as you need to. Kind of like a mix of choir and group karaoke!

The aim of Mama Mixtape is to help you find a community of fun, supportive Mums and do something enjoyable for yourself at what can be a challenging and isolating time. No nursery rhymes, no baby massage – this one’s all about you! (Though no doubt your baby will love it too).

When, where and how
Our first block of 8 sessions will be held at Insole Court, Llandaff, on Mondays 10.30-11.30am every week from 15th Sep - 3rd Nov 2025. There's plenty of parking, a cafe and beautiful grounds for you to walk, talk and connect with other Mums after the sessions if you'd like to.

The sessions are best suited to Mums with babies who aren’t crawling yet (so up to around 7-8 months old), with numbers capped at 15 so it’s not too overwhelming for you or baby. No singing experience is necessary to join us, just the desire to have fun, meet other Mums and feel the benefits of group singing.

We welcome anyone identifying as a baby Mama: we know motherhood doesn’t always look the same for everyone.

Meet Rosie, session leader
I’m Rosie, a community choir leader and Mum to little Jac.

I decided to set up the Mama Mixtape because I would have loved to do something like this when I was on maternity leave! Being a new Mum is glorious but it can be very isolating. The Mama Mixtape is here to remind you that you’re not alone, and that we’re people too, not just Mums.

Alongside running choirs, a lot of my career has been spent developing arts projects in health and community settings. I’ve done lots of research into singing and the many benefits it offers: it lowers our stress levels, calms us down, uplifts us and helps us feel more connected to other people. I’m passionate about helping people at all stages of life to feel those benefits, especially new Mums.
